The event titled \u201cGender-Based Violence and Justice. Five Years of the Red Code: Law, Culture, and Society\u201d took place on November 25, 2025, in the splendid setting of the Sala degli Oratori at Palazzo Moncada in Caltanissetta. Curated by Daniela Corso and Flavio Verrecchia, both of Telefono Arcobaleno, this national preview saw a very high level of participation, attention, and quality of discussion.<\/p>\n
The initiative, sponsored by the Municipality of Caltanissetta, was brought to Sicily by the international organization founded in Milan in the 1990s. With the indispensable support and technical-logistical assistance of Tenute Navarra, it represented a unique moment of analysis and debate, bringing together some of the most authoritative figures from the institutional, judicial, academic, and social sectors committed to protecting women and fighting gender-based violence.<\/p>\n
The proceedings opened with greetings from the region’s leading authorities: Walter Tesauro, Mayor of Caltanissetta; Pinuccia Albertina Agnello, Police Commissioner; Domenica Motta, President of the Court of Appeals; and Licia Messina, Prefect. The participation of the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri, Colonel Alessandro Mucci, was also noteworthy. These significant presences were encouraged by the valuable coordination of Giovanna Candura, Deputy Mayor of Caltanissetta and Councilor for Culture and Equal Opportunities. This participation testified to the institutions’ attention toward a topic that, unfortunately, remains a pressing current issue. <\/p>\n
The heart of the meeting was the presentation by Daniela Corso (Psychologist and systemic-relational psychotherapist, Director of the Child Protection Service and the Therapy Center of Telefono Arcobaleno) and Flavio Verrecchia (Statistician, Head of the Telefono Arcobaleno Research Center, ISTAT researcher, and professor at the University of Milano-Bicocca, the University of Pavia, and Carlo Cattaneo University). They presented an updated and rigorous reading of the first five years of the Red Code’s application, offering an unprecedented analysis that made the event a true pilot appointment at the national level. The volume was born as an act of responsibility: a collective legal, sociological, psychological, statistical, and educational analysis that compares numbers and words, laws and culture, to understand what has worked and what is truly missing in the prevention and fight against gender-based violence. Figures, emerging critical issues, best practices, and future perspectives were clearly illustrated, providing the audience with a complete and, above all, useful framework for guiding actions in the coming years. <\/p>\n
The highly anticipated and profound round table titled \u201cGender-Based Violence and Victims: Perspectives in Dialogue\u201d was moderated by Donatello Polizzi. It was an intense and pluralistic discussion, made possible by the contributions of: Massimo Cacciola, psychiatrist and director of the Psychiatric Unit at the ASP of Caltanissetta; Giuseppina Licata Caruso, Professional Social Worker; Patrizia Pagano, Senior Official of the State Police and Head of the Anti-Crime Division; and Maria Grazia Vagliasindi, former President of the Court of Appeals of Caltanissetta. <\/p>\n
Each speaker, from their own field, provided a concrete and complementary vision of the difficulties that still characterize the prevention, identification, and management of cases of violence.<\/p>\n
The packed hall and the attentive participation of the audience made the event even more significant. There were many interventions, questions, and reflections shared during the concluding phase, a sign that the topic deeply touches the social fabric and requires further opportunities for discussion. <\/p>\n
The quality of the presentations, the prominence of the speakers, and the attention of the audience transformed this meeting not only into a success but into a national point of reference for the analysis and understanding of the phenomenon of gender-based violence.
\nFor one day, Caltanissetta served as the national capital for dialogue and prevention.<\/p>\n
