This May, Tenute Navarra will again participate in two important events:
Sicilia en Primeur in Cefalù and Best Wine Stars in Milan.
Returning from Vinitaly 2024, where Tenute Navarra had the opportunity to present two new products, Zahr and Rosemosse, the Butera-based company is preparing to take part in two significant industry events: Sicilia en Primeur from May 9th to 11th in Cefalù, and Best Wine Stars from May 18th to 20th in Milan.
Tenute Navarra will again participate this year in Sicilia En Primeur, which will be held in Cefalù from May 9th to 11th. The 2024 edition celebrates the twenty-fifth anniversary of Assovini’s founding and the twentieth anniversary of the first Sicilia En Primeur, retracing the most significant milestones of this association, which today plays a leading role in the history of Sicilian viticulture and its revolution, thanks to the extraordinary vision of its founders and the commitment of their successors and the companies that have worked over the years to promote Sicilian wine as a cultural ambassador worldwide, enhancing the diversity of the Sicilian wine continent. Special attention will be given to the prospects for the future of this sector, so much so that the theme chosen for this edition is “Cultivating the Future,” a topic very dear to the young Sicilian team led by the two founders – Totò Navarra Senior and Totò Navarra Jr (grandfather and grandson).
From May 18th to 20th, 2024, invece, Tenute Navarra will participate in Best Wine Stars in Milan, in the exhibition area designated as “silver.” On this occasion, the company will be present at the Masterclass Verticale led by Adua Villa, lasting approximately 45 minutes, during which “Rosemosse” will be presented.
Rosemosse, along with Zahr, are the two new products Tenute Navarra launched during the last Vinitaly. These are a sparkling wine and a spumante that join the others in the Art, Premium, and Fun lines, whose names refer to family members or childhood memories of Totò Senior and the territory where the farm is located, such as Battichiè (Nero d’Avola Riserva Sicilia DOC), a nursery rhyme that Totò Navarra heard his mother sing when he was a child; Sofien (White Terre Siciliane IGP Grapes: Grillo – Chardonnay) dedicated to Totò Senior’s youngest granddaughter, or Maribu (Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG) created as a tribute to the place, combining the initials of Mazzarino, Riesi, and Butera; Disiata (Frappato Sicilia DOC) which refers to Totò Senior’s desire to create a farm in Sicily.
Zahr is a sparkling white wine made from a blend of white grape varieties, with a brilliant straw-yellow color, revealing a fruity and slightly herbaceous bouquet on the nose. Excellent freshness, with light bubbles and great drinkability. It undergoes secondary fermentation in an autoclave using the Charmat/Martinotti method. Rosemosse – the first sparkling wine vinified with the Charmat/Martinotti method, which preserves the fruity and delicate aromas typical of this grape variety – comes from a careful selection of Frappato grapes hand-picked in the last ten days of August. For the launch of this latest wine, Tenute Navarra has associated a special gift: rose-shaped pins made with the crochet technique by hand by a Catania-based designer – Billonia – a newly eighteen-year-old, who has embraced and reinterpreted the art of crochet in a contemporary key, a trend that has become increasingly popular in recent years, especially among young people.
“Sicilia en Primeur and Best Wine Stars,” states Totò Navarra Junior, administrator of Tenute Navarra, “are two important opportunities to meet with other producers and with national and international industry press. As a member of Assovini’s Generation Next, I believe it is essential to have annual meetings where we discuss the opportunities in our sector and the potential to work together to face future challenges.”
